Simon Tiffin
Director
Having studied classical piano from the age of six, music is a second language in which Simon is very fluent. In 2014 he was the winner of the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, and in 2016 he won the Clara Rolland Piano competition at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Upon entering the UI/UC, Simon studied voice with Dr. Barrington Coleman and Dr. Tim Bostwick. He has also studied under esteemed conductors Dr. Andrew Megill and Dr. Andrea Solya since 2015. Tiffin is in high demand as both a pianist and vocalist touring the nation with renowned composer, producer and conductor Steve Hackman. He has also performed with many ensembles in the greater Chicagoland area. Most recently Tiffin sang tenor with the Music of The Baroque chorus on their Mobley Sings concert and was the featured soloist in the world premiere performance of Steve Hackman's The Brink at the Water Garden in Santa Monica, California. Tiffin was also a finalist for Cantus in their 2022 season auditions. Simon is currently the Artistic Director of The Chorale and is a collaborative pianist for both the UI/UC Oratorio Society and the Central Illinois Youth Chorus. He is also a vocal coach for Steve Hackman Productions. Simon believes that it is a musicians duty to always search for truth in music and to make that truth readily apparent to anyone who is willing to listen.
